About Angelica Lopes

I am a registered clinical counsellor and supervisor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). I am a BUPA, Medibank and AHM recognised provider for family, group and individual counselling items.

I have worked over the past 15 years in private practice and in clinical research both in Australia and South America. I have provided several specialised therapeutic services to those dealing with challenging life experiences and assisted people through short-term goal oriented therapy, as well as long-term therapy. I'm trained in a variety of therapeutic models that research has shown to achieve change and to maintain gains over time.

Prior to migrating to Australia, my clinical experience and training as a fully registered psychologist in Brazil focused on helping those who present with mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and adjustment issues.

Since moving to Australia in 2012 I have helped many immigrants over the years, including expat professionals, international students and permanent residents. Besides cross-cultural expertise, I have also developed the ability to work carefully with diversity more generally, working collaboratively with people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of diverse genders, and relationship structures.

My practice is non-judgemental, trauma informed and I also adopt a culture centred approach to treatments. I’m a bilingual clinical counsellor offering sessions in English and Portuguese.

Please note that I am not a practising Australian psychologist or social worker. I do not offer rebates from the Australian government currently.
